Go back Our Grovsnus, Loose ReviewManufactured by Swedish Match and one of the oldest brands in Sweden, Grovsnus loose was launched in 1912 as simply a tobacco flavored snus. Grov loose is classified as a coarse ground snus which means that the tobacco pieces are a bit larger than the fine grind type. This leaves the surface area of each piece larger and easier to mold into a prilla. Also, coarser ground snus tends to hold a prilla’s shape longer no matter if you use a tool or hand shape it. The prilla we tested was made with a 3 ml tool and kept its shape for over 2 hours before it began to fall apart but the flavor could have lasted much longer! Each can of Grov loose contains 45 grams of snus with a Nicotine content of 8 mg per gram. The can is made of the same traditional paperboard bottom with a thin layer of food grade paraffin wax to keep the snus fresh. The lid is made from gold colored plastic with the Grovsnus logo embossed on the top and makes a pretty good seal with the bottom but, enough about the can, let’s talk about the flavor! As we said in the beginning, Grovsnus loose was launched back in 1912 as a purely tobacco flavored snus and used only a few ingredients. While the list is small, the ingredients are of high quality. Hand selected tobaccos from around the world mix with water, salt and a touch of smoke flavoring. What was achieved was a snus that has a smooth flavor of tobacco with a bit of salty sweetness from the smoke flavoring. We think that Grov loose would be great for the beginning snus user that wants to try loose for the first time because of its ease to mold and it’s pure, mild tobacco flavor but, this is what we think, we want to know what you think!
