Ettan Original portion snus is another fine snus manufactured by the folks at Swedish Match in Gothenburg, Sweden. Ettan Original is classified as a regular portion snus meaning that each portion goes thru an additional step in the manufacturing process, which adds a bit of additional moisture to them, that helps the flavors meld together and bring out the flavor quicker once it’s in the lip. Each can of Ettan Original portion has 24, one gram portions with each having 8 mg of Nicotine. The portion material that Swedish Match uses for Ettan Original is the same soft material that they use in all their portion snus and is comfortable in the lip for over 2 hours. Ettan original’s can is made of a Gold colored plastic with a paper label that seals the lid to the bottom until you open it and yes, there is a used portion compartment in the lid! Now that you know the basics, let’s get into the flavor! Ettan is one of Sweden’s oldest snus brands with a flavor that’s basically been unchanged since 1822. Ettan Original portion was introduced in 1990 and carries on the flavor tradition with a basic recipe of Tobacco, water and salt. The only addition to the original recipe is a smoky flavor! This smoky flavoring, along with the flavors of high grade tobaccos from around the world and salt, creates a one of a kind flavor that combines the peaty, leathery flavor of the tobacco with the slight smoky flavor to create hints of dark, bitter chocolate in the lip as well as in the nose! Actually, when you first open a can of Ettan Original, the scent you get is of a dark, European chocolate as opposed to the rich tobacco that is the first flavor you taste when in the lip but, this is what we taste.
