Our L.D Original Loose Review

Introduced in 2006 and made by JTI Tobacco in Sweden, LD Original loose is classified as a fine ground snus with a which means that the tobacco is ground to very small pieces and a texture like you would find in wet powder. Since the snus is a finer grind than other loose snus, a handmade prilla is a bit harder to make and doesn’t last as long as the one made by a tool. During out testing, the handmade prilla lasted about an hour and a half before falling apart while the tool made one lasted over two hours but, the flavor could last much longer in either case. Each can of LD Original loose contains 45 grams of snus with a Nicotine content of 8 mg per gram. LD Original loose’s can is made from black plastic, both top and bottom with a black and gold paper label. The lid also has the LD logo on it and makes a pretty tight seal with the bottom and doesn’t accidently pop off in your pocket but, you’re not here for the can, you’re here for the flavor so, let’s take a look! JTI describes LD Original as having a pure and rather mild tobacco flavor with hints of bergamot. What we taste is mild flavored tobacco along with bergamot as well but the strength of the tobacco flavor is pretty light. What we mean by light is that the flavor is pretty subtle for a loose snus. Typically, loose snus tends to have a more pronounced tobacco flavor and the citrus element is a background flavor. This is not necessarily a bad thing though. The flavors in LD Original are still of high quality tobaccos and bergamot, which has a flavor that’s a cross between a lemon and a grapefruit, with a hint of salt they’re just not as strong as you would think they would be. We think LD Original would be a great loose snus for beginners that want to start with a loose that has a subtle flavor and easy to hand bake or, long time snus users looking for a lighter tasting snus but, we’ll leave that decision up to you!
